- Title of Project: NMR spectroscopy with NV centers in diamond
Thesis Abstract: The nitrogen vacancy center is a color defect in diamond which allows optical detection of magnetic resonance and therefore becomes a very sensitive probe for magnetic fields. The single defect enables us to measure locally and hence can be applied to sense nuclear spins on a nanoscale. In our project we develop new sensing schemes to measure nanoscale NMR spectra with high sensitivity and spectral resolution. These schemes we apply to samples on the surface of the diamond with the prospect to bring chemical NMR spectroscopy to nanometer volumes and surfaces.
